Remarkable modality to add to your skills! All massage is based on the original Chinese Meridian Massage called Tui Na, pronounced "Tway Nah." It is a form of body work and manipulation that has a long history in Chinese medicine. Practitioners since 2700 B.C. have used these techniques in working with acupoints and meridians along with limb stretching and manipulation to prevent and treat disease. As part of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and as an adjunct to veterinary therapy, Tui Na facilitates and dramatically improves the therapeutic results of acupressure for animals while contributing to their health and well-being.
Tui Na regulates meridians, promotes circulation of chi and blood, and strengthens the immune system. These techniques can be applied in musculoskeletal conditions, arthritis, peripheral nerve disorders, wei syndrome (wasting and weakness), and improves the functions of the zang-fu, or internal organs. This course covers the basic hand and body techniques and their application for animals. Some of these techniques include Gun Fa (rolling), Yi Zhi Chan Tui Fa (finger pushing), Tui Fa (pushing), Rou Fa (kneading), An Fa (pressing), Ya Fa (compressing), Na Fa (grasping), and more.
